Dr Molly Waldron
Adjunct Senior Lecturer
Dr Molly Waldron is the National Institute of Entomology adjunct senior lecturer and is responsible for course design and delivery at the Institute.
Dr Waldron has always had an appreciation for parasites, genetics, and parasite genetics. More specifically, her research involves the diversity and transmission of parasites between people and animals through a One Health perspective. Her work is primarily focussed on hookworms and threadworms, but also extends to other nematodes (e.g., filarial worms, roundworms), cestodes, trematodes, and arthropod ectoparasites.
She was fortunate enough to have completed an internship with DAFF's Plant Innovation Centre in Nanopore-based insect surveillance. Her passion for genetics and next-generation sequencing has granted Molly the incredible opportunity to work at the Gene Technology Access Centre as a STEM coach, improving her science communication skills and inspiring the next generation of scientists through cutting edge course delivery in forensics, immunology, cell biology, genetics and invertebrate biology.
